Gem Merge: match three, climb the gem ladder

Gem Merge is a free merge puzzle you can play right in your browser. You get one gem at a time. Place it anywhere on the 5×5 board. When three or more matching gems touch, they fuse into a single gem of the next tier. Plan your placements to set up chain reactions, and keep the board from filling up.

How to play

1. Tap an empty square to place the gem shown under Place this. You can also see which gem comes Next.
2. Three or more matching gems that touch side by side merge into one gem of the next tier, on the square you just played.
3. The new gem can trigger another merge straight away. Chains score a multiplier.
4. The game ends when the board is completely full.

The gem ladder

Pebble → Quartz → Jade → Amber → Ruby → Amethyst → Sapphire → Diamond → Star. Three Stars merging together clear themselves for a huge bonus. Every new gem you discover is saved in your ladder.

Tips

• Build in corners. Keep big gems at the edges so small gems have room in the middle.
• Set up chains. Place a merge so the result lands next to two gems of the next tier.
• Watch the Next gem. Leave a matching pair open for it.
• On a computer, hover over a square to preview the gem, and see which gems would merge.
