Volt Rush: an electric car game about beating the battery

Volt Rush is a free electric car driving game you can play in any browser. Your EV flies down a four-lane highway while the battery drains every second. Weave through traffic, collect charge bolts and hit the charging lanes before you run out of power. The farther you go, the faster the road gets and the tighter the gaps become.

How to play

• Phone: use the left and right buttons, or tap the sides of the road. Hold the Regen button or the middle of the road to recover charge.
• Computer: press ← → or A D to change lanes. Hold ↓, S or Space for regen.
• Charge bolts add 7% to your battery.
• Green charging lanes add up to 60%. Stay on one from start to finish to get it all.
• Hitting traffic or reaching 0% ends the run.

Scoring

• You earn 1 point per metre driven.
• Bolts are worth an extra 10 points.
• Swerve out of a car's way at the last moment for a Close bonus. Chain them for up to 100 points each.

Tips

• Regen is a trade-off. It slows you down and recovers charge, but you cover less ground while it's on.
• Every row of traffic has an open lane. Look ahead for it instead of reacting to the nearest car.
• Save regen for when you're low and no charging lane is in sight.
