Sudoku rules

• Fill every empty square with a number from 1 to 9.
• Each row must contain every number once.
• Each column must contain every number once.
• Each 3×3 box must contain every number once.

How to play here

• Select a square, then tap a number. The small figure under each number shows how many are left to place.
• Turn on Notes to pencil in possible numbers. They tidy themselves as you solve.
• Wrong numbers turn red and count as a mistake, but you can keep playing.
• Hint fills in the square you've selected with the right number.

Tips for beginners

• Start with the numbers that appear most often on the board.
• Look for a square where only one number is possible.
• Within a row, column or box, look for a number that can only go in one square.
